ADVICE FROM THE FIELD

Bill Cardet

It was a freedive Bill Cardet had done 1,000 times, and a relatively shallow one for him at a 50-foot maximum depth. He and his dive partner were spearfishing off the coast of Miami when tragedy almost struck. Luckily for Bill, he and his buddy had completed a comprehensive freediving course and were following the recommended “one up/one down” protocol.
